Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Many immigrant and refugee children exhibit symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  For some, the migration process itself can be a terrifying experience, fraught with dangers such as rape and starvation.  When working with these children, professionals should learn about PTSD and ways to relate to these children while avoiding retraumatization.
