POSITION:       Program Assistant: Reception & Placement (Refugee Assurance)

SALARY:          Commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package.

STATUS:          Exempt, Full Time


U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), a nongovernmental, not-for-profit national organization dedicated to addressing the needs and rights of refugees and immigrants, is seeking a Reception & Placement (R&P) Program Assistant.


Under the direct supervision of the R&P Program Officer, the R&P Program Assistant will be responsible for the collection, review, and timely submission of sponsorship assurances from USCRI network agencies participating in the State Department’s Reception & Placement program and the timely submission to the Refugee Processing Center (RPC).  He/She will maintain and disseminate records (paper and digital) related to refugee sponsorship, reception, and placement, including entering data, filing and working with USCRI network agencies and the RPC to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of submitted data.  The Program Assistant will recommend modifications to the R&P database, as needed, to most effectively process refugee sponsorship, reception, and placement with USCRI network agencies. Additionally, the Program Assistant will be required to monitor and report on trends related to refugee processing.  The Program Assistant will also serve as a training resource on various aspects of refugee processing for the USCRI network.  Other job duties that support the daily activities of the R&P team will be assigned as necessary.


A Bachelor’s degree or three years relevant experience. USCRI is seeking a candidate with strong communication and computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in Excel and Access.  He/She should be able to multi-task and prioritize daily activities to meet competing deadlines. The successful candidate should be detail-oriented and able to produce and maintain basic statistical reports.

  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
