JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION:    Community Outreach Coordinator

SALARY:       Commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package.
 
STATUS:        Exempt, Full Time

U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), a nongovernmental, not-for-profit national organization dedicated to addressing the needs and rights of refugees and immigrants, seeks a Community Outreach Coordinator for its Detroit field office. This field office operates multiple programs including refugee resettlement, an employment program for refugees/asylees and victims of human trafficking, and refugee health follow-up and education services.   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position of Community Outreach Coordinator has several responsibilities all of which provide support for newly arriving individuals.  Responsibilities include providing outreach and public education activities to engage local community support and build positive reception of arriving refugees; coordinating World Refugee Day activities; recruiting volunteers and interns; maintaining social media presence; developing and organizing fundraising events and opportunities for in-kind donations; actively searching for new grant opportunities; assisting with program reporting and maintenance of case files; other job related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent interpersonal skills, good organizational skills, and attention to detail required; good computer skills, must be a team player is required.  Bilingual English and Arabic is preferred.  The candidate must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and personal transportation.  Prior experience with social services provision, community outreach and volunteer management, employment services, or refugee resettlement is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
• Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
• Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
