USCRI Takes Refugee Warehousing to Capitol Hill

Jeff Fahey, "LOST" cast member and international advocate, will speak out for refugees on Capitol Hill.

Joined by "LOST" cast member and international advocate Jeff Fahey and Ambassador Mike Ussery, USCRI will bring its campaign to end the warehousing of refugees to Capitol Hill on October 27.

Warehoused refugees languish in camps without basic human rights such as the ability to move about freely, work to support their families, own property, choose their place of residence, or otherwise live a normal life. They are confined to refugee camps and forced to subsist on humanitarian aid, often for decades. More than 8 million of the nearly 14 million refugees worldwide have been warehoused for ten years or more.

USCRI will highlight the situation of warehoused refugees in Thailand and Algeria, offer alternatives to refugee warehousing, and call on legislators to act to restore these refugees’ basic human rights.
