Here for Good Celebrates Newcomers’ Pursuit of the American Dream

MARCH 11, 2013

Washington, DC—As the policy debate around U.S. immigration reform continues, the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) is proud to announce Here for Good, a social media campaign that celebrates the valuable contributions of refugees and immigrants to American life. The campaign uses visual and emotional storytelling to show how all our lives are touched and enriched by newcomers every day.

Here for Good will confront common misconceptions about migrants, illustrating new Americans’ economic and cultural contributions to their local communities. Here for Good celebrates the pursuit of the American Dream as a shared aspiration of the Founding Fathers as well as today’s newest Americans.

USCRI invites policy makers and the American public to participate in the story—celebrating diversity, adversity, and the tenacity of refugees and immigrants as they pursue their new beginning. Share your stories and participate starting March 11th on USCRI’s Facebook page.

Since the organization’s founding over a 100 years ago, USCRI staff, partner agencies, and volunteers have helped millions of refugees and immigrants attain economic self-sufficiency in the United States. Through its national network, USCRI works in all 50 states to create lasting change and put human faces on issues like immigration reform, human trafficking, refugee rescue and resettlement, and the protection of civil liberties.
